Learning to drive a car

Turned the staring wheel to the right and pushed the accelerator to take a side turn and all of a sudden I crashed into a lamp post! And before I could realize anything the person who was teaching me how to drive came running from the other side of the road, dumbfounded and awestruck. He quickly got inside and parked the car by the road side. That was when I saw that I made a terrible mess in the front side.

It was in June 2008, I laid my hands in a staring wheel for the first time in my life and it was a terrible start. I stayed away from the staring wheels for the next 5-6 months.

But things went really well the next time. From then on for the next 1 year, I took driving lessons on weekends for 1-2 hours. There were no crashes/accidents except for one or two occasions (which wasn’t anything serious either).

Yeah I’m a really good driver now!

Daily Prompt: Apply Yourself

Procrastinating – a short story

It was April 2012, I hurried out from my Physics class to attend statistics-1, which takes about 15-20 minutes to reach from where I was. I got into the class and sat beside my friend in the front row. The class was almost coming to an end and students who finished their class work early, left. Revision class of Chapter 6 was going on. The substitute teacher was explaining something to my friend who sat beside me. “You didn’t study anything, listen you are supposed to revise or study the things that are being done in the class, right? So, when is your exam?” asked the teacher. “January”, we both replied though the teacher directed the question to my friend. “Study now and you will be able rest before the examination” he replied and slowly walked out of the class.

I looked at my friend beside and laughed, “Man, 8 months left!”. January seemed a thousand years away at that moment. I thought I had enough time to finish things well. But now, here I’m in January a day before my exam starts with a lot and lot of things still to do which I’m afraid I could not cover within the short time I have.

Microsoft Clippy!

How well do you remember clippy? Here’s a hint. If you still don’t remember him then you’re too young. I was in standard one, 2001, when I first saw this guy. It was also when we bought our first computer with Windows 98 as its operating system.

Today while scrolling through my Facebook’s News feed, I found this picture posted on the official page of Windows*. It remembered me of the old times, the way I irritated my father, while he was working on Microsoft Word, pointing the monitor’s screen and asking the same question over and over again, “What does this thing do?” I don’t remember what my father’s response was.

Many people have much negative things to say about it. I came to know today that Microsoft removed Clippy from the later versions of windows, because it annoyed million computer users, as The Telegraph says.

So, how old were you when you first saw clippy?
